Purpose: Baby quilt for my friend’s 3rd baby and 1st girl

Favorite Detail: This was my first quilt with my longarm and I was quite excited to free-motion quilt. I gave each of the pencils a themed color name and matching quilting. In the photo, the most noticeable is Cotton Candy for the pale pink. I really enjoyed trying out different filler patterns and shapes. Check out the WIP page for close ups on the quilting. The dolphin I put in the Pacific Ocean pencil was my favorite.

Lesson for the Log Book: If I were quilting on my domestic machine, I probably would have changed thread color for every pencil. Since this was my first time on the longarm, I wasn’t sure how difficult balancing different colored top and bobbin would be, so I didn’t give it a try. I did learn to not fear I high-contrasting thread. This bright pink works across the many colors in this quilt.
